Port Orleans pop-up: sold out.

We set up at Port Orleans Brewing Co. for Oktoberfest and sold out. Word is more appearances are coming, maybe even some old menu favorites.

How we got here

A Berlin chef, a New Orleans kitchen.

Sven Vorkauf grew up in Berlin, then visited New Orleans in 2007 and never really left. What started as a bratwurst booth at neighborhood festivals turned into a Bywater biergarten: nine years of feeding this city sausage the honest way, no shortcuts.

2012

A folding table and a grill

Sven grilled his first bratwurst at the Freret Street Market. No restaurant required.

2016

Four first-place ribbons

Top honors at the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival made it clear: New Orleans had room for real German sausage.

2017

Piety Street opens

Bratz Y'all Bistro, Bakery, Biergarten opened in Bywater: house-baked pretzels, German beer on tap, a dog under every table.

2026

The rent went up. We didn't.

After nine years, a lease that no longer worked closed the doors on Piety Street. Sven's calling it a phoenix moment, not an ending.
